Something that always bothered me was this constant parroting of the he has hidden these things from the wise and intellectual and revealed them to babes. What is that supposed to mean?

Why is god hiding?
by AK - Jeff inwhat god could have done to show himself:.
he could have left incontrovertible evidence of his existence.he could have made it impossibly evident that mankind has been here only 6000 years, not the 200,000 give or take, that fossil evidence supports.
he could have provided evidence through jesus to millions of non-believers, instead of focusing on a small band of fanatical followers eager to point to 'the messiah'.he could at any time, being the ultimate of beings, just simply show himself in the sky, speak to millions instead of to the lonely occasional deluded sheepherder in the desert, or provide miracles to millions of us as observers - part the ocean, cure cancer and announce it from heaven in a clear unmistakable voice, or instantaneously stop starvation and plague in it's tracks.

'Mission: Impossible' actor Peter Graves found dead
by Yizuman inlos angeles, california (cnn) -- actor peter graves, best known for his starring role on tv's "mission: impossible," was found dead sunday at his home, according to a spokeswoman for the los angeles police department.
he was 83.. there was no sign of foul play in the actor's death, officer karen rayner said.. graves portrayed the character jim phelps for all but one of the seven years "mission: impossible" ran on cbs, from 1967-1973. he won a golden globe in 1971 for his work on the show, and he was also nominated for an emmy.. he reprised the role from 1988 to 1990 when the show resurfaced on abc.. in an interview with cnn in 1996, graves expressed disappointment with hollywood's movie version of "mission: impossible" -- starring tom cruise -- which included none of the stars from the original tv series.
actor jon voigt played the phelps character.. "i am sorry that they chose to call him phelps," he said at the time.

I wasn't much of a fan of airplane but I really liked mission impossible It's kind of sad when all the people who were adults when you were young start disappearing.

Do You Personally Know Of Anyone That Committed Suicide?
by minimus inlately, i've come to find out that a more than a few people in the area had killed themselves.
most of the people i know of were in their early twenties or forties.
for those loved ones surviving them, it was mostly a shock!

I knew two young men who committed suicide and I blame it on the organization and it was and still is a heartbreak.

"When armageddon happens, I want to be able to SEE the people dying"
by jambon1 insaid to myself & others by a jw elder.. i always recall this as a sort of .
when this elder was pressed on the matter, he replied that it was because of all the years of laughing & sneering & mocking that he had put up with, quoting the scripture that goes along the lines of 'where is this promised presence of his'.. i realise now that this person is not loving.
and yet, i would hear similar sentiments from others such as 'just wait until the end' or 'i wonder if they'll be saying that when jesus comes with his big sword'.. even as a jw pioneer, the thought of such a thing happening to people repulsed me.

at one of the last meetings I went to I had a conversation with a woman who casually remarked about how ready she was for the end so I said that I didn't really feel good about billions being executed and she said that she didn't care they had their chance and it wouldn't bother her one bit and I said that I didn't see how Jehovah could do such a thing. found out later when I was called in by the elders that she had told them about our converstion andI'm such a terrible person for not wanting mass executions.

Does this happen to anyone else?
by doublelife inthis doesn't happen a lot but every once in a while, on a day that used to be my meeting night, i'll get a weird feeling.
it happened today.
it's hard to explain what it is.

Actually I'm okay until my husband starts messing around by saying out of nowhere "oh did you turn in your time" and than he starts laughing and I have to say "will you stop saying those things" because than that meeting anxiety hits and everything tumbles back in my mind when you hear those phrases its like you've been tasered.

What to do
by JWinprotest inwe haven't been to a meeting or turned in a field service report for 2 months, so we don't know where our cong's memorial will be held this year.
we have 3 options.
either 1)we attend a meeting before the memorial and get the info, 2) we call one of the elders and get the info or 3) we wait to see if they contact us and if they don't we just miss for the first time ever.

the memorial is a tentacle from the watchtower beast if you slice it off of you you'll feel alot better.
